Get your mind out of the gutter… we are talking about hiking.

This is the Strada delle 52 Gallerie on Mount Pasubio in Fabio’s home-region of Veneto, Italy. 🇮🇹

It was built in just 9 months during WWI when Italian soldiers carved this 6.5km mule track directly into sheer rock faces. The goal was to create a secret supply route hidden from enemy artillery fire.

Over 2 kilometers of the trail run completely underground through 52 numbered tunnels….. including incredible helical spirals engineered to climb the mountain from the inside out.

Today, it’s one of Europe’s most breathtaking, atmospheric hikes (and a very difficult, long one at that too)

You Won’t Believe What’s Inside This Italian Theater 😱

We made it our mission this day to find the chiller parts of Venice and that led us on a sponteneous island hopping quest.

- It started with Murano, the glass making island. We were actually staying at a converted glass making factory during this trip, which was totally unique.
- Next up was Sant’Erasmo. This is Venice’s agricultural island. You’ll find here artichoke fields, vineyards, and two restaurants… one being this airstream that sells burgers and spritzes 🩷🩷 (Experientia)
- The next stop is actually on Italy’s mainland, Punta Sabbioni…. But who knew you could get white sand beaches so close to Venice?!
- Finally, we had to hit up Burano on the way back. The lovely thing is that as the sun goes down, many have left the island, so lots of golden hour photo shoot ops!

You can get a 24-hour or 72-hour vaporetto pass to bring down the cost of things…. A LOT. We had a 72 hour one as we were in Venice multiple days, but all of this was possible in one day (albeit slightly rushed). So if you are coming to Venice and want to get off of the Centro Storico island, consider a little island hopping adventure.

Cruising through the enchanting town of Bassano, we reached San Martino di Castrozza, perched at 1,487 meters in the Trentino region. Surrounded by stunning peaks, we found unexpected snow for skiing in late March, including the panoramic slopes of Mount Tognola at 2,200 meters.
