We Drank the Famed Borjomi Water… Are We Invincible Now? 🇬🇪

Did you know that ‘Tbilisi’ actually means ‘warm place’ in Georgian? We booked a private room in one of the legendary Tbilisi sulfur baths for just 50 Georgian Lari (about $18 or €17) per hour!

Of course, we picked the kitschiest one we could find. So we stripped down, hopped in…and lasted a whole three minutes in the bath because, it was boiling! And yes, it reeked of sulfur. 😅

Then came the knock. Time for the kisa! 💥 Imagine lying on a cold table as you’re scrubbed down to shed all that dead skin you didn’t even know you had. Spoiler alert: we felt amazing afterward. 

But trust us—you want to book ahead, or you’ll be in the public bath…and that’s a story for another time!

It comes in several regional styles, and here's the cheesy breakdown:

🛶🥚🧈 Adjaruli Khachapuri – A boat-shaped delight filled with cheese, topped with an egg, and a dollop of butter. You mix it all together for a gooey, savory bite! (Seriously, hope you took your lactose pills for this one).

How Many Khachapuris Did We Eat in 21 Days? 🇬🇪

Just outside Kutaisi, Georgia, lies Tskaltubo—a semi-abandoned Soviet-era spa town that was once a luxury retreat for the USSR elite.

For a small bribe, you can step inside its decaying sanatoriums, including the hauntingly beautiful Shakhtiori Sanatorium, one of 25 scattered throughout the town. During its heyday, visitors flocked here for radon baths and “health treatments” backed by Soviet propaganda.

After the fall of the USSR, these grand buildings were abandoned, but they’re far from empty. Today, Tskaltubo is a photographer’s paradise, a destination for dark tourism, and a haunting reminder of the past.

Inside the Eerie Ruins of a Soviet Luxury Retreat 🇬🇪

After TOO MUCH Georgian wine, we made the spontaneous decision to hop on one of BBC’s World’s Most Dangerous Roads the following morning.

This is the road to Tusheti National Park. While only 72 kilometers to Omalo, the road can take 4-5 hours to navigate thanks to many treacherous roadblocks.

We were terrified, but in the end completely ecstatic that we did it, because at the end of the road is a raw, untouched wonderland.
