This one was for. the. books.

Being here is always a powerful reminder of what it took to get here. The generations before us painstakingly fought just so we could have the jovial celebrations we experience today.

Imagine living in hiding because existing as your authentic self wasn’t allowed. Imagine not being able to marry the person you love.

Even when Belgium legalized same-sex marriage back in 2003, it was just the beginning… so many other rights took years of continuous fighting to secure.

While there is still progress to be made and hurdles to cross and ridiculously unnecessary violence happening, Brussels and Belgium remain at the forefront. We can’t take for granted how incredible it is that we can openly celebrate like this.

Let’s keep showing up and staying loud… so that one day, everyone, everywhere gets to have their own parade.
