The 25 Best Gay Bars in Mexico City (Clubs Included)

Mexico City has one of the most layered, chaotic, and pretty damn exciting gay nightlife scenes in Latin America. Zona Rosa is the obvious center... a strip of bars on Londres, Amberes, Florencia, and Niza that's been the LGBTQ+ heartland for decades. But there's a whole other world spread across Roma Norte, Condesa, and the downtown scene around República de Cuba, which has its own character entirely.

We spent several months in Mexico across different visits and got a few weeks in CDMX. We tried to hit as many of these places as we could, but nobody covers 25 gay bars in a few weeks, especially not when there are tacos to eat and a city to explore (I mean, Tourlane ranks it as the #1 Cultural Capital of the World). So this ranking is a combination of what we personally experienced, recommendations from locals and people who actually live this scene, and a large amount of crowd-sourced Google Reviews data.

Here's how the ranking works: each venue is scored by its Google rating, with number of reviews used as the tiebreaker when ratings are equal. A 4.5 with 20 reviews ranks below a 4.3 with 1,400, volume signals reliability. We set a minimum at 3.5 stars. Anything below that got cut.

This isn't a perfect or conclusive list. It's a crowd effort. If we're missing your favorite spot, drop a comment. We want to hear it.

The short answer: Revuelta Queer House in Roma Norte is the top-rated gay bar in Mexico City right now — 4.6 stars on 516+ reviews, and it held up when we visited. TOM'S Leather Bar near Condesa and Vaqueros in Zona Rosa round out the top 3. The full 25 are below.

Between our own time in Mexico City and months of research, a lot of these descriptions come from locals and frequent visitors rather than just our own experience. We're being transparent about that throughout. Take recommendations for places we haven't personally visited with that in mind.

How the Rankings Work

Bars are ranked by Google rating first, with review count as the tiebreaker. Higher rating wins; when two bars share the same rating, the one with more reviews ranks higher. More reviews equals more reliable signal.

We set a floor of 3.5 stars.

The descriptions pull from a combination of Google Reviews (we collected hundreds of entries from within the last year to make sure they are relevant), Reddit threads from r/MexicoCity, and our own time in the city. Where we personally visited, we say so. Where we didn't, the descriptions are clearly built from crowd data. Both sources are useful, just in different ways.

Men gathered around outdoor tables at a gay bar on Calle Amberes at night, with a red neon-lit awning and mounted TV screen above.
Many of the bars we visited on Amberes didn't make it on here because they were rated too low.

#1 — Revuelta Queer House

⭐ 4.6 | 516 reviews | Roma Norte

This was our favorite. Hands down!

Our friend Tim from Out in Mexico sent us the recommendation, and he nailed it. Revuelta Queer House is inside an old sinking house in Roma Norte... yes, Mexico City is genuinely sinking, and this building leans into it. Walk in and you'll find multiple things happening at the same time: drag karaoke down one hallway, an art exhibition, and a rooftop bar and bistro above it all that somehow manages to feel both trendy and low-key. It reminded us of some of the bars we'd stumbled into in Tbilisi, Georgia... the kind of place that lives inside an old house and makes it feel like the walls have stories.

This one will stay in mind for a long time.

The Google reviews back it up completely. "The best inclusive atmosphere and queer spot in the city," "a true queer spot, just the way we like them," "very modern place, lovely people, excellent customer service." It gets noticeably better on weekends when the place fills up. Drinks are on the pricier side, and one reviewer noted that it can skew very gringo inside, more English than Spanish, which is worth knowing depending on what kind of night you want.

Practical info
  • Where: Puebla 94, Roma Norte
  • Website: revueltaqh.com
  • Phone: +52 55 9349 9260
  • Good to know: Queer bar • Art gallery • Drag karaoke • Rooftop bistro • LGBTQ+ events • Weekends are significantly better • Drinks are pricey

#2 — TOM'S Leather Bar

⭐ 4.4 | 1,097 reviews | Condesa (Insurgentes Sur)

TOM'S is the kind of bar that earns its reputation by delivering exactly what it promises: a leather bar with go-go dancers, a dark room, multiple bars, and a top-floor smoking area. It's on Insurgentes Sur near Condesa... one of the safer and more pleasant neighborhoods in the city.

First-timers describe paying around 300 pesos for 5 beers and entry on a Tuesday night. Naked strippers apparently appear every 20 minutes or so... not a special event, just the regular program. There's also a crowd-pleasing "back room" that gets mentioned in reviews with various levels of detail.

The one caveat: some visitors found weekends lean more cabaret than cruise, with pop music and performance dominating rather than the darker vibe you might expect. Midweek cover charges can also jump unexpectedly, so confirm pricing before going on a quiet night. On the right evening (Tuesdays are the best), it's excellent.

Practical info
  • Where: Av. Insurgentes Sur 357, Condesa
  • Website: toms-mexico.com
  • Good to know: Gay leather bar • Dark room • Go-go dancers • Strippers • Smoking area • Verify cover charges on weeknights • Tuesday is apparently the best night

#3 — Vaqueros bar

⭐ 4.3 | 1,468 reviews | Zona Rosa

We had to try this one. We'd already been to a Vaqueros in Guadalajara, and the cowboy bar energy follows the name. Mexico City's version did not disappoint... cowboy hats were present and accounted for.

It's on Florencia, right in the heart of Zona Rosa, and it's one of the most-reviewed bars on this list. The formula is simple: cumbia, banda, dancing, and an atmosphere where you can have a conversation before the floor gets too packed. Prices are affordable across the board.

The main criticism in reviews is about the music skewing very regional Mexican (think Chicoloapan-style hits, not a broad playlist). If that's your sound, perfect. If you want variety, this might not be your first stop. But as a late-night dancing bar with genuine atmosphere and cowboy hats everywhere you look, it's hard to argue with a 4.3 on nearly 1,500 reviews.

Practical info
  • Where: Florencia 35-B, Zona Rosa
  • Phone: +52 55 1423 4321
  • Good to know: Bar • Cumbia & banda music • Dancing • Affordable prices • Cowboy-themed

#4 — EL ALMACEN

⭐ 4.3 | 622 reviews | Zona Rosa

Also on Florencia, literally a few doors from Vaqueros, EL ALMACEN is a gay bar built around shows, a central location, and solid atmosphere. Reviews describe great performances and "a great atmosphere, central location and a very well-organized show."

The practical side has rough edges: there's a cover charge, some people report being pushed toward bottle purchases once inside, and bag checks at the entrance can be assertive. There's also a history of mixed experiences with staff that shows up in the reviews. The 4.3 comes from people who had a genuinely good time, but it's worth knowing the venue has its quirks.

Practical info
  • Where: Florencia 37-B, Zona Rosa
  • Good to know: Gay bar • Pub • Bar & grill • Shows • Cover charge applies • Bag policy at entrance • Staff experiences are mixed

#5 — Pecado

⭐ 4.3 | 229 reviews | Downtown/Centro

Pecado sits on República de Cuba 45B, in the heart of downtown's gay strip. Reviewers describe it as carrying early Marrakech energy (the bar, not the city)... relaxed, genuinely queer-feeling, and with a dance floor you can actually use. "It reminded me of a Marra in its early days, a good place."

The music is a solid mix, service is friendly (mostly), and there are drink specials running before 9pm if you show up early. A couple of reviews flagged cash-change issues, which seems to be a thing at some downtown bars... pay attention to what you're owed. A 4.3 on a downtown bar is no small thing when you see how the rest of the Centro venues compare.

Practical info

#6 — Cabaretito Fusión

⭐ 4.2 | 6,209 reviews | Zona Rosa

The most-reviewed venue on this entire list by a huge margin... over 6,200 Google reviews. That kind of volume doesn't appear by accident: Cabaretito Fusión on Londres 77 is where a lot of people end up, especially visitors who've seen the name or spotted the strip.

The shows are the draw: cabaret acts, adult performances, and a lively floor with prices that reviewers regularly describe as affordable. The flip side is that it gets extremely crowded, pickpockets have been mentioned in a few reviews (staff apparently helped in at least one case), and one Reddit commenter called it "not mindblowing... a little disappointing." That makes sense if you're expecting something edgy or underground. It's a fun, accessible venue. Not a hidden gem, but not a bad night either.

Practical info
  • Where: Londres 77, Zona Rosa
  • Website: cabaretito.com.mx
  • Phone: +52 55 1480 5240
  • Good to know: Disco club • Cabaret & adult shows • Bar • Restaurant • Affordable • Watch your belongings in crowds

#7 — Guilt Roma

⭐ 4.2 | 376 reviews | Roma Norte

Guilt Roma on Coahuila 92 in Roma Norte is one of only two clubs on this list outside Zona Rosa and downtown. It's a proper nightclub... solid sound and lighting setup, and one regular put it simply: "one of the best nightclubs in the city. Always a great atmosphere, always great service, always safe."

The variable is the DJ. A few reviews describe excellent nights; others describe a DJ who "changed genres from song to song like they were underwear 🤣" and another who "played all the songs on the same beat." The difference between a good night and a mediocre one seems to come down entirely to who's behind the decks. Check their Instagram before going to see what's on... it'll make a real difference.

Practical info
  • Where: Coahuila 92, Roma Norte
  • Phone: +52 55 1704 8175
  • Good to know: Nightclub • Check DJ lineup in advance — it matters here • Safe neighborhood

#8 — Amazonas Club Less

⭐ 4.2 | 265 reviews | Zona Rosa / Juárez

Amazonas is on C. Gral. Prim 9, just off the main Zona Rosa corridor. It is a lesbian bar. The positive reviews from women mention attentive staff, a great party atmosphere, affordable parking right outside, and cold drinks.

Practical info
  • Where: C. Gral. Prim 9, Juárez
  • Good to know: Night club • Primarily lesbian/women-centered crowd • Parking available nearby

#9 — Disco bar club 69

⭐ 4.2 | 113 reviews | Downtown/Centro

This one is pure fun if you know what you're walking into. Disco bar club 69 on Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas 24 is an LGBTQ+-friendly bar where the playlist is cumbia and salsa, the beer is cheap, and the mirrored walls make the whole thing feel bigger than it is. It's not polished. It's an after-party spot where you dance with strangers and leave sweaty and happy.

One reviewer described it as "one of my favorite after-parties... full of mirrors and with amazing music all night long. If you like to keep the party going by dancing, it's the best option, seriously." Fridays are good for groups; Saturdays you can show up solo and find people to dance with.

Practical info

#10 — Kinky Bar

⭐ 4.1 | 3,464 reviews | Zona Rosa

Kinky Bar is the big pop and reggaeton club of Zona Rosa... at the corner of Amberes, it's one of the most recognizable venues on the strip. Over 3,400 Google reviews and a steady 4.1 means it's consistently delivering.

Reddit calls it the "poshest place" in Zona Rosa, with drag performances, a younger crowd, and a polished setup. On the flip side, it's been noted that the crowd is more than 50% women on many nights, with a fair number of straight guys mixed in. If you want a strictly gay crowd, temper expectations. If you want a big, energetic night out with drag and familiar music, Kinky delivers. It's accessible for visitors in a way that some of the other entries on this list aren't.

Practical info
  • Where: C. Amberes 1, Zona Rosa
  • Phone: +52 55 5514 4920
  • Good to know: Gay night club • Drag shows • Pop & reggaeton • Mixed crowd — not exclusively gay

#11 — La Purísima

⭐ 4.1 | 2,892 reviews | Downtown/Centro

"Insanely fun and worth it" is how Reddit describes La Purísima, followed immediately by "just go with a group and Uber there and back." It's on República de Cuba 17, downtown's gay heartland, and it's the kind of place where regulars have been going since they were 18 and still love it.

On a busy night it's extremely crowded... "you can't even walk" in one reviewer's words. The music is good, the DJ knows how to keep things moving, and Thursday nights offer drink discounts with no cover charge. This is not the place for a quiet drink. It's the place you end up at midnight, dancing for two hours straight, slightly overwhelmed, and somehow having the best time.

One consistent note from Reddit: go with a group, especially if it's your first time in the area.

Practical info

#12 — Marrakech Salon

⭐ 4.1 | 2,353 reviews | Downtown/Centro

Marrakech Salon is a classic. It's been the reference point for the downtown gay scene for over a decade, and the reviews reflect that loyalty... people describe it as feeling "like home," with an inclusive atmosphere, drag shows, pop music, and drinks that are significantly cheaper than anything in Zona Rosa.

"My first gay bar in centro. Had a lot of fun and drinks are cheaper than Blow and Kinky Bar in Zona Rosa. Lots of pop music and drag shows. Definitely would come back here!" That's a first-time visitor writing like every long-time regular. It's on República de Cuba 18, right in the middle of the downtown strip.

Practical info

#13 — Babiana Club

⭐ 4.1 | 1,075 reviews | Zona Rosa

Babiana Club is on Londres 102, a few doors down from Baby Club (#24). It is a lesbian space. Safety and friendliness get strong marks overall.

The service gets mixed reviews... some glowing (specific staff praised by name), some frustrated about attitude and slow response. Music quality depends on who's DJing and what night you catch. The 4.1 across over 1,000 reviews is solid, but the experience seems variable enough to check what's on before heading over.

Practical info

#14 — Nicho Bears & Bar

⭐ 4.1 | 395 reviews | Zona Rosa

If you're a bear, love bears, or just appreciate a community gay bar that hasn't been swallowed by tourists, Nicho Bears & Bar on Londres 182 is the spot. Reddit gave it the simplest endorsement: "bar nichos is fun because bears." The reviews echo that... good atmosphere, millennial music, and a genuine pride in being a community space for the LGBTQ+ crowd.

It's small. Standing room only if you arrive late, as chairs are limited. The service is praised. A few reviews flag concern that the straight clientele has been growing in recent years, which regulars seem to be watching. But as of the data we have, it's still doing what it set out to do.

Practical info

#15 — Workshop Bar

⭐ 4.1 | 331 reviews | Zona Rosa

Workshop Bar is on Florencia 37a, the same block as EL ALMACEN and Vaqueros, which makes it a natural stop on any Zona Rosa night. Reviews are consistently positive: "excellent atmosphere, very good prices and wonderful service". Shows are part of the program here too.

Practical info

#16 — Sexto Piso

⭐ 4.1 | 120 reviews | Zona Rosa (Eje Central)

Sexto Piso is a darkroom and cruising venue... not a standard bar. Google lists it as a "Gay bar," but the reviews make the environment clear: this is a space where clothing is optional and social interactions tend to be direct. Know what you're walking into before you go.

For people looking for exactly this kind of space, the 4.1 is well-earned: clean facilities, organized, and a friendly atmosphere. One regular visits weekly and spends three hours each time. Staff get good marks.

Practical info

#17 — Dallas Club

⭐ 4.1 | 92 reviews | Zona Rosa

Dallas Club on Génova 34 has a good rating, but 92 reviews is one of the lowest counts on this list. Factor that in.

What it does have is a clear identity: it's a men-only space. Know this before you make the trip. Inside, the reviews describe clean facilities, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and "almost always finding what you're looking for." It also has long opening hours.

Practical info
  • Where: C. Génova 34, Zona Rosa
  • Good to know: Gay bar • Men-only • Long hours • Not signposted online — plan ahead

#18 — El Buen Tiempo

⭐ 4.1 | 73 reviews | Downtown/Centro

El Buen Tiempo is on República de Cuba 15, right in the middle of the downtown gay strip. Like Dallas Club, the rating is solid, but the review volume is low (73), so treat the 4.1 with appropriate skepticism.

From what's available, it's a dancing bar with good music and a relaxed atmosphere... "one of the best places downtown, great music, great atmosphere, amazing surprises" according to one reviewer. One concerning review about a customer scam involving false theft accusations was filed; it may be an outlier, but it's worth mentioning since it's not a one-off type of complaint for the area.

Practical info

#19 — Soberbia Bar

⭐ 4.0 | 856 reviews | Downtown/Centro

Soberbia Bar on República de Cuba 2 has a dancing energy that long-time Mexico City gays seem to genuinely love. The best review sums it up: "Honestly, this place is like Marra in its heyday, before it went downhill... I really love it. Every time I go, I have an amazing time and dance for hours straight." Drag queen Ronda gets a specific mention for being "super professional and always making you feel at home."

The music skews Gen Z and reggaeton-heavy, which some people find repetitive. But when the floor gets going, nobody's complaining about the tracklist. If you're doing a downtown night, this and Marrakech or La Purísima make a natural pair.

Practical info

#20 — Teatro Garibaldi

⭐ 4.0 | 802 reviews | Downtown/Centro

Teatro Garibaldi has the drag shows, the late-night hours (reportedly open until 7am), and the crowd energy you'd expect from a big downtown venue. Some people clearly have a great time here.

BUT the reviews are more divided than almost anything else on this list. Some 1-star reviews describe rough experiences with drinks, staff attitude, and the general late-night vibe going sideways. If you do go, the usual downtown rules apply: go with a group, don't leave drinks unattended, and trust your gut if something feels off. The 4.0 reflects real good nights... just go in eyes open.

Practical info

#21 — SIC

⭐ 4.0 | 72 reviews | Zona Rosa / Juárez (Versalles)

SIC is not a regular bar... it's a club night, and based on everything we found, it primarily runs on Saturdays. Reddit's description: "94% gay, topless, and attractive. Bangin house and techno with two dark rooms." One commenter specifically called it out as the answer if you want somewhere to actually dance (not just stand around): "If you're gay you need to be at SIC in Juarez. It's amazing."

There are two rooms with different vibes... one bigger and more mainstream, one smaller and more alternative. The basement occasionally opens too. Google reviews are sparse (72 is very low), but the ones that exist are positive: "great night DJs," "really fun on a Saturday night, crowd was not pretentious and people were social." Check their Instagram for the current schedule before showing up.

Practical info

#22 — DIVINA BAR

⭐ 3.9 | 524 reviews | Downtown/Centro

Divina Bar is a multi-floor venue, and Reddit described it well: "great... lots of people, they have three different dance floors, in one they'll play pop, in another reggaeton and the third is more like EDM." The Google reviews are more mixed, complaints about expensive drinks, slow service, and a general inconsistency but the space itself sounds like it works when the crowd shows up.

Themed nights add variety, and the venue clearly has capacity to be fun. Go late, go in a group, and watch your belongings like you would anywhere crowded downtown.

Practical info

#23 — La Malagueña Bar

⭐ 3.9 | 579 reviews | Downtown/Centro

La Malagueña Bar is a no-frills dive. Cover is 70 pesos, no food, and the dance floor is described as small. But if you want to stay out until dawn dancing salsa and cumbia in a place that isn't pretending to be anything else, this delivers.

The standout review: "excellent place... the atmosphere, the music, the clean women's restrooms, and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. It's a place where you can stay until dawn without any problems." One reviewer specifically warned: don't show up expecting banda or norteño. It's salsa and cumbia, full stop.

Practical info

#24 — Baby Club

⭐ 3.7 | 695 reviews | Zona Rosa

Baby Club on Londres 179 has name recognition in Zona Rosa, but the reviews tell a more complicated story. Multiple people describe it as no longer feeling like a gay bar... "It's not even a gay bar anymore. It's where young women go to feel like they're supporting an LGBT community." Complaints about classist or dismissive waitstaff show up repeatedly.

That said, some people clearly still enjoy it and the 3.7 on nearly 700 reviews means enough people had an okay time. It's probably not a destination worth planning around, but if you're already on Londres and curious, you'll know within 20 minutes whether it's your night.

Practical info

#25 — Blow Bar

⭐ 3.6 | 826 reviews | Zona Rosa (Niza)

Blow Bar was the go-to Zona Rosa recommendation for years, and older Reddit posts (and a few travel sites) still put it at the top of any CDMX gay bar list. More recent data tells a different story. Multiple reviews describe a crowd that's shifted to roughly 70% heterosexual... foreign students, straight couples, and older women dominating what used to be a gay bar. "It no longer feels like a gay bar. I won't be back."

The space itself still gets decent marks: good music when you catch a good DJ, friendly waitstaff (even if door security is brusque), and an active atmosphere on the right night. Drinks are expensive and reggaeton-heavy. The 3.6 is the lowest rating of the main list, and the review pattern suggests it's trending rather than just having a bad run. If you end up here on a good night, you'll have fun. But there are better options on this list.

FAQs: Gay Bars in Mexico City

What is the best gay bar in Mexico City right now?

Revuelta Queer House in Roma Norte — 4.6 stars on 516+ Google reviews. It's a queer venue inside a sinking building with drag karaoke, an art gallery, and a rooftop bistro. We visited and nothing else on this list comes close on either rating or atmosphere. If you're only going to one gay bar in Mexico City, make it this one.

What is the main gay neighborhood in Mexico City?

Zona Rosa is Mexico City's main gay village, centered around Londres, Amberes, Niza, and Florencia streets in Cuauhtémoc. There's also a strong downtown scene around República de Cuba in Centro Histórico, which has a more local and less tourist-heavy feel. Roma Norte and Condesa have a handful of excellent spots too, particularly Revuelta Queer House and TOM'S Leather Bar.

Is Mexico City safe for gay travelers?

Zona Rosa is openly LGBTQ+-friendly and generally safe for a night out. The downtown Centro scene is livelier and more local but worth going with a group, especially late at night... most Reddit advice for La Purísima and the Cuba street bars includes "Uber there and back." Condesa and Roma Norte are both safe neighborhoods.

What are the best gay bars in Mexico City for dancing?

For cumbia and banda: Vaqueros and Disco bar club 69. For pop and reggaeton: Kinky Bar and La Purísima. For house and techno: SIC (Saturdays only). For general dancing until dawn: Soberbia Bar, Marrakech Salon, and La Malagueña downtown.

Are there gay bars in Mexico City outside of Zona Rosa?

Yes. Downtown / Centro Histórico has a dense cluster along República de Cuba: La Purísima, Marrakech Salon, Pecado, Soberbia Bar, El Buen Tiempo. Roma Norte has Revuelta Queer House and Guilt Roma. TOM'S Leather Bar is near Condesa on Insurgentes Sur.

What is the cover charge like at Mexico City gay bars?

It varies. Many downtown bars have no cover or run minimums. Zona Rosa clubs like Kinky Bar and EL ALMACEN have cover charges that range from around 100 to 300+ pesos depending on the night. TOM'S offered entry plus 5 beers for 300 pesos on a Thursday, which is solid value. Some venues charge more on weekdays than expected... confirm before going in.

Are Mexico City gay bars welcoming to tourists?

Generally yes, especially in Zona Rosa. Cabaretito Fusión, Kinky Bar, and Revuelta Queer House get frequent mentions from international visitors. The downtown bars skew more local and Spanish-speaking, which is part of what makes them great, just helpful to know going in. Revuelta was flagged by one reviewer as skewing toward English-speaking gringos, which is the opposite problem.
