We spent several days here in November with our friend Raffaella, exploring by scooter and wishing we'd stayed longer. The big thing we learned: your location in Yangshuo matters, but not in the way you'd expect. None of these picks are walking-distance-to-West-Street central in the strict sense. The town-area hotels are a short scooter or taxi ride away; the countryside ones push further out to the Yulong River corridor or surrounding villages. Rent a scooter (which you should do anyway) and the distinction stops mattering much. What changes is your morning: town-side means you're close to restaurants and noise at night, countryside means rice fields and karst peaks before anyone else is awake.

The architecture blends contemporary design with a '60s aesthetic that was largely lost during the Cultural Revolution, and the result is a property that looks like nowhere else in China.
